lyrics

As a child I dreamed of running free.
I’d travel way out west and cowboy a bit,
Maybe sail the seven seas.
Always choosing the roads less traveled
In search of life’s elusive mysteries,
Pursing esoteric possibilities.

I’ve been called dazed and confused,
Accused of wasting my time fiddlin’ my life away.
Funkin’ up ol’ rhumba beat blues,
What other folk think ‘n’ say can’t really
Change what’s true for you,
Just keep on keepin’ on,
Doin’ the best you can do.

The golden calves worshipped by society,
They sing no siren songs to me,
Position, power, possesions,
The acquisition of property,
Proprietary ethics a la temporal reality.

Deep in my heart and soul those childhood
Dreams still echo and clal to me,
I feel the sun on my face,
I’ve got the wind on my back,
And I’m running free,
Running free, I’m running free…
