about

“This is my French and English, hip-hop solo project. My real name is Shawn Giroux. I'm from Hawkesbury, Ontario. I have twin sisters, a mom and a dad. It’s a small town in between 2 big cities, one hour from Ottawa and one hour from Montreal. I worked hard in construction and renovation, and had my own flooring company for like 14 years. I party hard. L'Chronic loves to party like a rock star. Clubs, dancing; good music is one of the best feelings in life. In 1999, something was calling me to the West coast. One of my sisters, Bonny, lived in Vancouver, BC. So I moved in with her. Not long after, my sister Cindy joined us in Van. At the time, I needed to find myself, I needed to find a purpose to my life. I’ve always lived to help anyone make this world a better place. Then after a few years living here, I started to live the dream. I started facilitating art classes at Life Skills, which was an open place where anyone could come and chill. People could eat, wash their clothes for free, and this place had these great classes that you could go to, and even get paid to join. One of the classes was Slam Poetry, with Devon Martin. My first class with him opened my eyes. This guy came in with this really sad song. So, he reads his poem then Devon says ‘let's do this again, but this time he would play some music to it, what kind of music would you like?’ He said some Blues. So they play the song and wooo, the transformation of this guy... He came in head down, to leaving the room with a big smile on his face. He said ‘I will be back next week’ and I was hooked on this class. Soon I started recording songs, formed a band, and helped make music for everyone. I became good friends with Devon not long after, and when he couldn't show up, to do his class, I kept the class going. Anywhere, music is amazing therapy. Please let's take care of each other. World peace!”

lyrics

Lace your shoes 'cause they lace your dope.
Do you even know what they put in your dope.
You pay for this, but they sold you that.
Fentanyl even mixed in with the crack.
It's not OD'ing, it's fentanyl poisoning.
Lost some friends cause they all turned blue,
It's genocide what the fuck are you gonna do?

Thanks doc for making the whole world dope sick.

Thanks doc for making the whole world dope sick.

Saved if we do, man, damned if we don't.
They put the fears in to you,
they say they'll save you, but they won't.

Saved if we do, man, damned if we don't.
They put the fears in to you,
they say they'll save you, but they won't.
No they don't.

Health care? Yeah right.
It's more like "pop pills, pop pills".

Toi CA tentrai tu,
moi ja nais attraver dans le cu.
Attraver dans le cu.

Brand new morning, rising Sun
we all kept it inside for a way too Long.
Cause what they say is not
What they do.
They took it from me, & stole it from you.

It's time to wake up .

Never use alone, use mops , OPS, Insite...

We need to take care of each other.
A lot of people use for pain.
Because the system is driving them insane.
The stigma.
Too many die.
Vancouver fentanyl crisis,
It's been going on for a way to long.

It's genocide, what the fuck are you going to do.

Time to wake up.

More clean supply.

It's time to wake up.
