about

My name is Kevin King, but around the Downtown Eastside my nickname is Iceman. I am 42 years of age. My heritage is half Scottish, a quarter British and 1 quarter Parisian French. I have been a singer since I was in Grade Four at John Henderson Elementary School. When I graduated High school at H.J. Cambie Secondary School, I was involved with concert choir, vocal jazz, solo singing club, and received the H.J. Cambie Award in Outstanding Musical Service. My vocal range can reach as low as a bass and as high as a tenor. I can sing all styles of music, my favourite being Rock and Roll and Heavy Metal. I started song writing in 2012, when I wrote the first version of “Death’s Door” at Devon Martin’s music appreciation class held at Life Skills (a drop in centre for drug users, alcoholics, and homeless people). Since then, I have written a number of new songs, collaborated and performed with my best friend, Shawn Giroux, and his band, Cryonic Re-Generation, started to learn guitar, and bought my first electric guitar and amp. Music has saved my soul limitless times throughout my life. The main thing that drives my music is that my Dad, Louis Heim, can no longer play anymore. It is in his honour, that I keep the music alive. My hope is that when 100 Block Rock 2 comes out, I can give him a copy of the album before he passes on.

lyrics

Fadin' fast
Feeling drained
Darkness reigns again
Bad moon rising
Death swoops down
Hurtling to seal my doom

Despair in the air
Fear everywhere
Soul's turning black
Through hell and back
Near dying, it's cold grip terrifying
Freezing me to the death's door

Fentanyl kills
Soulless creatures
Depressing, frozen, dreary
Chilling bleak and eerie
Cemetery's arising
The undead plaguing the living

Despair in the air
Fear everywhere
Soul's turning black
Through hell and back
Near dying, it's cold grip terrifying
Bringing me to my death's door
Frozen to my death's door

Walls closing
Eyes rolling
Deep breathing
Head to toe
As life diminishes

Despair in the air
Fear everywhere
Soul's turning black
Through hell and back
Near dying, it's cold grip terrifying
Bringing me to

Despair in the air
Fear everywhere
Soul's turning black
Through hell and back
Near dying, it's cold grip terrifying

Welcoming me to my death's door
Bringing me to my death's door
Still leading to my death's door

Every year, hundreds and hundreds die of fentanyl overdoses
Benzos, crystal meth, and heroin
So every day, never use alone
Be safe, and watch out for each other
'Cause you never know
When you might come to
Deaths Door

Despair in the air
Fear everywhere
Soul's turning black
Through hell and back
Near dying, it's cold grip terrifying
Bringin' me to

Despair in the air
Fear everywhere
Soul's turning black
Through hell and back
Near dying, it's cold grip terrifying
Welcoming me to my death's door
Bringing me to my death's door
Freezing me to my death's door
Still leading to my death's door
My final fentanyl stricken death's door
